My favorite rifle is everything made by Ruger. I got my Ruger 260 Rem last fall at Wiley Outdoor Sports in Wiscasset.
One issue is if you're a hunter, the ring or the lanyard on the Ruger Model 99/44 Deerfield can snag on a branch or even your own clothing and possibly pop your receiver cover off. My best friends' favorite would have to be the 32-20 Win and 260 Rem. I bought it at a flea market in Wiscasset when I was probably 15. The best shooting caliber is the 260 Rem hands down.
There is a new edition of my new Ruger Model 99/44 Deerfield with the English walnut chambered in 32-20 Win and 260 Rem. My all-time favorite hunt was a miserable experience at the time even with my new Ruger Model 99/44 Deerfield 32-20 Win. His favorite rifle is the 260 Rem I picked up online at the NRA store. The best all around caliber I own is probably the 260 Rem from Bass Pro Shops in Wiscasset.
